Catching lightning.

While this isn't about sailing, or CALIX, it does qualify as some serious weather.  I was lucky enough to catch this shot of a bolt of lightning from a back window at my parent's house in August of 2005.  The house overlooks Little Greenwood Creek off of Prospect Bay just east of the main Chesapeake Bay.  It was a horrible storm, so much lightning and hail and we'd been driving back from an event down in Cambridge and had to pull over to let some of the ferocity of the storm pass.  It was as if night had settled in mid afternoon because the storm was so big that by the time it was passed it was evening and dark, so it felt like we'd missed out on half a day of sunlight.  I'd rather get great shots of sunsets...
